Surrette v. Islamic Republic of Iran

UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

November 1, 2002

BEVERLY SURETTE, PLAINTIFF,
v.
THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN, ET AL. DEFENDANTS.

The opinion of the court was delivered by: Paul L. Friedman United States District Judge

ORDER

In its Judgment and Order of November 1, 2002, the Court stated that "at plaintiff's request, the Clerk's Office shall cause copies of the translated Opinion and Judgment and Order to be transmitted to the United States Department of State for service upon defendants through diplomatic channels, pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1608(a)(4)." Since issuance of the Judgment and Order, however, the Court has become aware that it is the responsibility of plaintiff, not the Clerk of the Court, to translate and serve the Court's Opinion and Judgment and Order upon defendants as was done with previous orders in this case. See Orders of January 24, 2002; March 19, 2002. Accordingly, it is hereby

ORDERED that the Court's Judgment and Order of November 1, 2002 is AMENDED such that the final paragraph of that order is DELETED and replaced with the following:

FURTHER ORDERED that plaintiff may, at her own expense, arrange for the Opinion issued this same day and this Judgment and Order to be translated into Farsi and cause copies of the translated Opinion and Judgment and Order to be transmitted to the United States Department of State for service upon defendants through diplomatic channels, pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1608(a)(4).

SO ORDERED.
